Week #34 I Believe In Christ!
Hey everyone! So happy to hear you are all doing well and had such a good week!
I was very sad to hear about the passing of Brother Curtis. He was such a huge example for me of patience and Christlike love. But knowing Brother Curtis, I am sure that right now he is looking for ways to serve and uplift those in need. Because that is something he was and IS so good at.
(Brother Rob Curtis was Landon's scout master and Deacon leader when he was 12, he was an incredible leader and friend to both him and Mason and taught them both so much by his example and service)
This week was a lot of work. Heat is still strong here and probably will be for at least another month. We are doing a lot of work(walking, contacting, knocking doors, the usual). We have had some opportunities to offer service but it has been mostly the same. I am trying to look for ways to change it up and find ways to have fun despite of all the hard work. Elder Bastias is helpful with all of that. He always has a joke to tell. This Friday was interesting. Elder Bastias has problems with his eyes so we had to get him glasses. They also dilated his eyes so he could not see very well for at least 6 hours. It was difficult sometimes but it had some fun moments.

Quick experience to share for this week: this transfer we have a focus of working with the Book of Mormon. Elder Bastias and I have tried a bunch of ways to apply that in our contacts and lessons and it is going well. For example, Pataricia. She has a baptismal date for 24th of March and she is doing great. She only has to drop smoking and she is good to go. On Thursday we were having a discussion about how she could go about doing that. What came to my mind during that discussion was 100% by the Spirit and I was so greateful that it came. The idea I had was use the Book of Mormon. President Nelson shared a story last conference about his grandaughter that made a promise with an invesitgator. She promised him that if he read the Book of Mormon everyday that his test scores would improve. He did and they did. I took a leaf out of her book and invited Patricia to do the same. I promised her that if she read every day that each time she read her desires to smoke would decrease until they were gone. That was on Thursday. On Sunday she told us that since we had talked(Thursday) she had not smoked one cigarette. That was such a cool experience and I was so grateful for the prompting I had recieved that was able to help her. I know the Book of Mormon contains the full power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Anyone that opens it and reads it with real intent will be change forever.
Les amo muchisimio!
