Week #24 Six Days Till Christmas
Hey everyone! Wow cannot believe it is so soon until Christmas. The time has flown by so fast. I cannot wait to talk to you guys on Monday and another blessings is that I will be able to write you guys the next day. Yeah!!!
1. My health is doing great. Exhaustion is a constant thing but that is not anything new. The heat is getting better. Summer officially starts this Thursday but members say the heat we have right now is pretty much hat it is going to be like for summer. It is hard sometimes but if I am prepared, it is possible.
2. We have a Christmas conference on Christmas day and we will have lunch there, listen to President Morgan, and watch a slideshow of every baptism and temple visit this year. I am so excited but I think it will be even better next year when I have been in Chile for the whole year and I will be able to have a bigger participation in the slideshow
3. Christmas Eve is Sunday so church as normal and then work for the rest of the day. Christmas Day is the conference in the morning, work a little bit, call you guys, and work some more.
4. We had one investigator, Benjamin come to church which was awesome. We are working to help his cousin come too. We also found Manuel the guy who was never confirmed. It is difficult to talk with him on a regular basis so we will see where that goes. We also have this great family of a mom named Maria and her daughter Amanda. All of these people have potential for baptism so we will see where that goes.
5. The best thing that happened this last week as either eating Dominos with Elder Nava or opening my Christmas Package(see pictures for both). Also because Elder Nava is leaving we got to visit pretty much every member that we spent time with and talk with them yesterday which was super fun.
Dominos!
5. No earthquakes so far. I may have slept through one though...
6. What my mission president has helped me with is opening my mouth. That is something I struggle with at times but he is always loving and helpful when we talk about it. He gave me a lot of things to think about and boost my confidence as a missionary. That is something I admire about my mission president is his love. Even when I am struggling or tired, when I talk with him I can tell how much he loves me and every missionary here in this mission
7. One word can describe a custom down here am used to now but not at home- "Permismo". Before entering houses, before eating or serving anything, praying, etc. you have to say Permismo to be polite. It was super weird at first but now I am used to it.
With Elder Nava leaving, I get a new companion tomorrow. His name is Elder Lucena. He is from Brazil. I have meet him a couple times a zone conferences and firesides. Everyone says he is always supper happy and has a way big smile. I am super excited to work with him. I am going to be companero menor and he is going to be the new district leader. It is sad to see Elder Nava go (he is going to the most dangerous sector of the mission 😫) but I am exited for a change and the things I will be able to do with Elder Lucena.
Christmas present from Elder Nava!
See you guys in Monday on Skype! Merry Christmas!
Elder Evans
