Week #62 The Standard of Truth Has Been Erected

Hey guys Elder Evans checking in from here in Santiago. This week was incredible. We had such a good week. Macarena, who I wrote about last week, has been progressing and is very excited to be baptized. We also found several new people. We have plenty to do and we are going going going which I love.

Q&A

1. who is someone you taught this week? One memorable lesson was yesterday with a woman named Giudela and her nephew Jorge. We talked about the Plan of Salvation which is one of my favorite lessons to teach. They had several questions but as we taught the Spirit entered and they were able to understand many key points. What I love about the Plan of Salvation(and the Gospel in general) is that it just makes sense. Our Father in Heaven wants things to make sense. He wants us to understand.

2. what are children like in Chile? To be honest, the children here are just like children from the states. We see many playing in the street or in front of their houses and they are all super friendly always wanting to say Hi to the two gringos that pass by.

3. what is a goal you currently have? A goal I currently have is to read all of the Standard Works before I go home. I have finished the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. I am currently in Romans in the New Testament and I have started Genesis to get a head start on the Old Testament. It has been a very fulfilling project. While I wait here in the chapel for Elder Goodman to finish writing I work on that as well as in personal study.

4. Staying cool or warm? It has been warmer. I usually do not have to wear a sweater anymore when I leave. And it is only going to get hotter...

Let me just say that this Saturday was awesome. We had a ward activity celebrating 18 of September. It was Awesome. We ate plenty of food, played games, watched the members dance Queca which is the national dance(they tried to get us dance. I wouldn't let them.) It was a great time.
