50 Things I Learned During My Mission

50 things I learned during my mission 
  1. Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God. He lives!
  2. The Holy Spirit is the true teacher in all of this. Learn from Him and help others do so as well 
  3. The foundation of a witness of this latter day work is the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith 
  4. Obedience brings blessings. Exact obedience accomplishes miracles 
  5. Becoming like our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ is possible. Focus on Christlike attributes
  6. Covenants and Ordinances are absolutely essential for our exaltation and eternal progression 
  7. Our Father in Heaven wants nothing more than to bring us home. That is why He gave us temples
  8. Prophets and apostles are signs of God's love for His Children 
  9. The sacrament is the most sacred moment of the week 
  10.  We can truly do and become better through repentance 
  11. God truly does know the one 
  12. Priesthood authority and power are real 
  13. The family is ordained of God
  14. Testimony does not require eloquence or volume.  What it needs is conviction 
  15. There is a special spirit- the Spirit of Elias- when one does family history work
  16.  Where can I turn for peace? He only one. 
  17. Jesus Christ truly did pay the price for our sins and trials and infirmities 
  18. Our conversion depends on us. No one can do it for us
  19. The body is a wonderful gift from God and thus we should take care of it
  20. Don't be too quick to judge. There is  almost always something more that we are missing from the full picture 
  21. Agency or the ability to choose is a powerful privilege and responsibility 
  22. Fasting truly can bring us closer to God 
  23. Jesus Christ will come again - very soon 
  24. Perfect love casteth out all dear
  25. Worth and worthiness are not the same 
  26. God does not expect perfection in this life.  But He certainly expects purity
  27. It is not possible to fall out of reach of divine love. 
  28. I don't need to have all the answers in order to stay true to what I believe. 
  29. Blessings may come now, soon, or in the next life but for those who are obedient to God's commandments THEY WILL COME 
  30. Doctrine is an unchanging truth. Principles are guidelines based on that truth. Applications are ways of living up to those guidelines
  31. God does accomplish many great things through very imperfect people 
  32.  The signals we send to the Holy Spirit will determine what we learn from Him
  33. Vicarious work is real and is a crucial element of the Restoration 
  34. Through the proper priesthood authority my family can be sealed for time and all eternity 
  35. God's plan may be very different from ours but it is definitely the best
  36. Reading the Book of Mormon every day will help me stay true 
  37. If we truly understand who we are and our relationship with our Heavenly Father it becomes easy to pray 
  38. The gifts of the Spirit should be one of our highest desires  
  39. I have learned all of these things and more thanks to the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ 
  40. Integrity- what we do when no one is watching- is very critical to our character 
  41. Be obedient, serve, study etc etc. because you want to because God loveth a cheerful giver
  42. God truly did love us so He sent His Son
  43. Do everything in your reach and God will make up the rest
  44. Listening and observing is key to discerning 
  45. There are easily more than 50 things that I learned during my mission.  God is very willing to instruct those who are willing to learn 
  46. There are no such things as coincidences. 
  47. Revelation is the right of EVERY member of the Church 
  48. Don't expect reasons for why the Lord gave a certain commandment or made a certain change. The past shows He rarely does
  49. The war has already been won by the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind. We just have to choose which side we want to belong to.  
  50. This truly is the  Church of Jesus Christ.  This truly is His Gospel.
