Week #61 We Played Spanish Bop It Last Night. I Lost.....
Hey everyone how is it going? We are 14 months in. Cannot believe how fast time is going. The mission life is going really well. There are sometimes that I feel like I have been a missionary forever and other times when I feel like my first day was yesterday. Crazy how all of it works doesn't it?
Q&A
1. I noticed in your pictures a different coat, did you get a new one? It is a hand-me-down from Elder Gonzales and now with the temperature change(it was 80 degrees yesterday 😨) I do not really use it anymore. I have not decided if I am going to keep it once I leave here.
Saying goodbye to Elder Gonzales!
2. Who are the missionaries living in your pension? So it is me, Elder Goodman and Elder Robins and Elder Dixon. Elder Robins will be going home the same time I do. Elder Dixon start his training last transfer. This has been one of the funniest apartments I have been in. I sent a picture of us to see who is who. Elder Dixon is the one with the glasses.
Apartment roommates!
3. How the weather? Is it still cold? The coldness is leaving. Our forecast is warm and sunny for the next week. It is crazy that we are finally back in the hot seasons but that is just how it is.
4. How are you feeling (health, stress, emotionally)? In general I feel like I am at the green level(see Adjusting to Missionary Life). In other words I feel great. There are moments here and there of stress or exhaustion but the mission has taught me to move forward and to keep my head up. There are good times ahead.
5. Do you play the piano at church ever? Nope. never. I am on a list of piano players but I am 7th in line so I will probably never play in sacrament meeting. Baptismal services, maybe but we will have to see.
6. Who did you teach this week? Someone we did teach was a person named Macarena. Her mom is a recent convert and Macarena and her family come to church every Sunday. They are awesome and we have had some very special moments together. One was last Sunday when we had Gospel Principles. We were inside the classroom getting ready and she comes in and she says "Elders I am going to get baptized!" It was shocking because up until now she has been kind of iffy on that subject. But when she just came up and announced it like that we were shocked. She even asked me if she could start paying tithing now because she wanted to so bad...I love this area!!!
7. Anything new in the mission? As far as rules are concerned, no. But the next few days are going to be awesome. September 18th is coming up(which is Chile's 4th of July) and it is going to be awesome. And the actual 18 of September actually fall on a preparation day this year! It is going to be awesome!!!! We have a ward activity this week I will get some pictures for the next time I write.
Santiago at night
Training is going really well. It is a lot more work than I am used to. I have to teach a lot more than before and do the majority of the talking which I am more than willing to do. And as of late I have felt the sustaining support of the Lord as we move foward. I want to thank you guys for your prayers and the other things you have done to support me. I have felt them. Not just this week but always. It is truly a honor to be one of the Lord's missionaries.
Love you guys! Have an amazing week!
Elder Evans
